Monica Narula

Monica Narula lives and works in Delhi. She is a media practitioner, filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer and writer with the Raqs Media Collective, and one of the initiators of Sarai. Her recent work involves photographic interpretations of urban landscapes and media practices, and the conceptualisation of an open online platform for media exchange. She is currently working on a series of new media and digital culture projects at the Sarai Media Lab. Her recent work with the Raqs Media Collective includes the installations Architecture for Temporary Autonomous Sarai, A/S/L, Locationn, 28.28 N / 77.15 E :: 2001/02 (Co-Ordinates, Delhi), The OPUS Project, and several documentary films. Raqs Media Collective is the co-initiator of Sarai: The New Media Initiative, a programme of interdisciplinary research and practice on media, city space and urban culture at the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies, Delhi. The Raqs Media Collective has exhibited at Documenta 11, Kassel, Itau Cultural Centre, Sao Paulo, Generali Gallery, Vienna, and the Roomade Office for Contemporary Art, Brussels.
